Wk 16: Planning a Strategy

After spending some time promoting a business across a few social media sites, I still think Instagram is the most fun to use. The product I am promoting is pretty easy to generate visual content with. As expected, this goes perfectly well with Instagram's format. Since I'm still learning how to use photo editing software, it did take some time to figure out how to create the image I wanted. I suspect after some more time I will be far more efficient and creating content would be even easier. Additionally, despite not really spending time on Facebook for my personal account, I did enjoy using it as a business tool. Wk 3: Communication with Businesses

I am actually currently having trouble communicating with a business. I am looking for an obscure part for my vehicle that only a select few companies carry. After some research, I settled on a local company who was selling the product I needed. After more searching, I noticed that the company itself doesn't have a website and is absent on the larger social media platforms. The only way to reach the seller and purchase the product I need is through a forum specializing in my car. This has proven to be inconvenient in every step of the process. After creating an account on the forums, I was forced to use the private messaging tool on the site to contact the seller. The design of this system probably hasn't changed since the early 2000's which shows upon first look. Currently, I have been going back and forth with the business for a couple of days just trying to make sure it is the correct part and arranging a time when I can pick it up myself. The ...

Wk 11: Email Marketing

As a business that sells clothes, I think it would be a good idea to use newsletters to push new products and promote sales. It would make sense to send out emails quarterly for each season of clothes. I would primarily use newsletters as a sales generator so including a "call to action" in each post would be key. I personally do not like getting promotional emails. I prefer businesses that use them sparingly and only to promote a sale that they are having. That way, whenever I do actually get an email from that company, I'm more willing to open it knowing that it will contain a coupon or information on the latest sale. I will attempt to use the philosophy for my business and experiment with frequency and types of posts as well. Regardless, email promotions will primarily be a sales generator versus a relationship builder. I find that social media does a better job at this task than email marketing.
