Wk 3: Businesses and Social Media

RVCA
rvca.com
I don't see any direct links to their social media accounts on their website.  However, in the "news" section, they keep a blog on their most recent happenings.  Most of their content seems to be photo and video based. After doing some searching, I found their accounts on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.  Their latest post was on Instagram today, Facebook seems to be used often and Twitter is used the least.

Volcom
Volcom.com
No direct links to their social media was found on their site.  Most of their content is in the form of photos.  They can be found on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Snapchat.  On YouTube, they currently have 2,148 videos with nearly 150k subscribers.  Their latest post was on Instagram today.  Generally, they are pretty active on all platforms of social media.

Brixton
Brixton.com
Brixton has an Instagram widget on their homepage which shows their last eight posts.  Additionally, they include links to their accounts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Pintrest, and Tumblr. When visiting their twitter, I noticed their most recent posts was a response to a customer. This is the first business I've looked up that was clearly communicating with their customers.

Quiksilver
quiksilver.com
Quiksilver has a nice mix of both photo and video content featured on their homepage.  Near the top of the homepage, you can find their "@quiksilver" username featuring their ten latest posts from Instagram.  You can find links to their accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pintrest at the bottom of any page. They most recently posted on Instagram today.

Huf
hufworldwide.com
The Huf homepage promotes their Instagram account the most.  There is a widget showing their last eight posts as well as a clickable link which brings you straight to their Instagram page.  Additionally, links to their Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube can be found at the bottom of any page on the website.  Their latest post was today on Instagram.

As someone seeking to enter the clothing market, I decided to do my assignment on some brands that I find to be most enticing.  I would like my brand to be marketed toward action sports, specifically in skateboarding.  Most of the brands here have several ties to the skateboarding and snowboarding industry, I would say individuals who skate or surf are the "target audience" that these businesses are going for.
Due to the nature of action sports, brands like these rely on their sponsored athletes to generate content for their website and social media.  Every single one of these companies has photos and videos of someone surfing or skateboarding wearing their products.  All of these companies are heavy users of social media. Every single brand had a post today on Instagram.
With that being said, I think Instagram is each company's social media of choice with many of them opting to have a widget on their website's homepage. They are generally pretty good about including links to their page on other platforms on their homepage as well.  One company that stood out to me was Volcom, their presence on YouTube was unrivaled by anyone else in the industry.  They have over 2,100 videos and seem to pump quality content out on their channel regularly.
